We encourage development and progress in society and strive to throw our weight behind different projects and associations around the country. The Bank’s aim is to have a positive impact on society, both with direct funding and active participation.  

The Women’s Year 2025 was reflected in many HR initiatives during the year. In the first half of the year, it was announced that Landsbankinn would become a sponsor of UN Women, followed by the introduction of an educational series addressing equality and diversity in their broadest sense. 

In 2025, we continued to work systematically toward our sustainability goals. We hosted our fourth Sustainability Forum, conducted the first assessment of our impact on biodiversity, estimated greenhouse gas emissions from lending for the fifth time, renewed the Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification for the canteen in our new headquarters, and participated in the UN Business and Human Rights Accelerator.  

We are leading in sustainability, an ambitious participant in public debate on economic affairs and an active publisher on varied informative topics. Our goal is to have a positive impact on Icelandic society and be a desirable workplace.

Risk management

Landsbankinn achieved strong results in 2025 across all main segments. The Bank’s annual financial statements reflect solid and efficient operations. Customer numbers continued to grow, satisfaction with services is increasing, the international credit rating was upgraded and the Bank further strengthened its position in key markets. 

The operating results of Landsbankinn in 2025 were good and reflect solid and stable operations in a challenging operating environment.  

Landsbankinn’s strategy, Landsbankinn, an ever-smarter bank, is based on a clear goal: to simplify life for customers by providing accessible, secure and personal financial services. In 2025, we demonstrated that the strategy works. Sound operation, satisfied customers and a robust culture returned measurable results - for customers, employees, shareholders and the entire community. 

Good governance forms the foundation for solid relations between shareholders, the Board of Directors, executives, employees, customers and other stakeholders and encourages objectivity, integrity, transparency and responsibility in the management of the Bank.

We continued to enhance the quality and security of the Bank’s digital services for individuals and companies during the year. A brand-new online banking platform for corporates was launched and various new features were added to Landsbankinn's app that benefit individuals, families and businesses alike. 

We aim to simplify life for customers by offering more accessible, secure and also personal financial services. We offer first-rate digital solutions, while also providing customers with personal service and advice both through our strong service centre and our staff in branches across the country. 

Landsbankinn is the country’s largest corporate bank, with an approximately 40% share of total lending to companies within the Icelandic banking system and around half of all lending in key industries such as fisheries and construction. Corporate lending continued to grow during the year and is expected to surpass the ISK 1,000 billion mark in the near future.  

In 2025, increased activity in financial markets coincided with customers placing greater emphasis on targeted and well-informed investment decisions. We focused on supporting customers with solutions that encourage investing, promote financial well-being and on being there for companies and individuals at all stages of the investment and savings lifecycle. This was reflected in various innovations and increased activity in asset management and brokerage, enhancing opportunities and delivering even better service for customers.  

The profit of Landsbankinn in 2025 was ISK 38 billion after taxes, compared with ISK 37.5 billion in 2024. After-tax return on equity for 2025 was 11.6%, compared with 12.1% the previous year. 

Landsbankinn’s funding rests on three main pillars: deposits from customers, market funding and equity. The Bank’s credit rating by S&P Global Ratings is A-/A-2 with positive outlook. 

Risk is inherent in Landsbankinn’s entire activity and robust, sound risk management is key to the Bank’s operation. The core function of Risk Management is risk management and monitoring, analysis and reliable disclosure.
